Ah, free knitting patterns.

The internet is full of them. Yarn discussion boards trade them back and forth. Sometimes they're terrible, sometimes they're quietly amazing, and sometimes the directions are just so lousy that you end up using the pattern as a starter for your barbeque (we understand, really, we do).

Here at Ruhama's we have lots of free patterns available in our store -- many are displayed next to the suggested yarns (like the Jelli Beenz baby booties pattern - simple and perfect!), and many are available in our binders of patterns. Come on by to see.

Below are a couple of our favorites for you to enjoy.

The Pebble Purse uses just one skein of Blue Sky Cotton yarn, is fun to knit and involves very little finishing. You can add your own beads and/or purse handles to your Pebble Purse to personalize it even more!

1-July-08: HEY! We're having a class on how to make this purse! Click on the picture to see dates and times!

Pebble Purse

The Ribbon Purse is a perfect evening bag -- choose from several of our ribbon yarns, mix and match your own colors, pick the perfect purse handle, and you're done! Knitted in seed stitch, this is a great project for beginning or intermediate knitters!

Ribbon Yarn Bag

For those of you in the Instant Gratification Club (membership cards take 2-3 weeks to be mailed, so nobody carries them), this is the perfect project! These mittens can be made in a day using the soft and chunky Twinkle yarn and a fun decorative button.

Twinkle Mittens

You know when you're knitting, and your needle splits your yarn and then you get all confused and throw it back in your stash and try to forget you ever started it? This fascinating scarf pattern asks you to do it on purpose! This wonderful accent scarf is knitted in Universal's Tango yarn.

Tango Scarf

This lovely scarf is a great way to get started knitting lace. We recommend Beaded Rhapsody yarn by Art Yarns, a beautiful blend of mohair and silk with beads plied into the yarn!

(Wisconsin residents note: Packer colors!)
