Class Policies


Class Policies:
  • Class fee must be paid in full when you register.
  • REFUND POLICY: Student must notify Ruhama’s at least one week before the class in order to receive a refund. After that date fees are not refundable or transferable.
  • Missed class time is student’s responsibility and no refunds will be issued.
  • Yarn and materials for classes and workshops must be purchased at Ruhama’s.
  • A 10% discount is given on yarn, needles, and notions purchased for or during class.
  • Classes must have 3 students enrolled to start and 6 maximum (unless otherwise stated) to ensure personal attention.
  • Ruhama's reserves the right to change a date and/or cancel a class if there is not enough interest.
  • You will be notified by telephone of a date change or cancellation.
  • All evening classes - please enter store through rear entrance only.
  • Children ages 12-15 may enroll in classes when a parent is also enrolled. Private lessons can be arranged for younger children and a parent.
  • Over-the-counter help is always free. Private lessons (undivided attention from a staff member) can be arranged for $30 and must be paid when scheduled.

Open Needlepoint
Come in wednesday morning from 10am- noon and join fellow stitchers! No Charge- no need to sign up!

Open Knitting
Join us for camaraderie and get help with minor problems from our friendly staff  each Wednesday afternoon from 2 - 4 p.m. No charge - no need to sign up.

Classes

101. Introduction to Knitting

Designed for those who have never knit but want to learn or those who would like a refresher class. By making a square we will cover casting on, binding off, knit and purl.

102. Introduction to Crochet

Designed for those who have never crocheted or for those who would like a refresher class. Making a square will cover chain, single crochet and double crochet.

Cost: $ 35.00
103. Introduction to Needlepoint

Learn the fundamental skills and stitches to needlepoint in this beginners’ class. Topics include waste knots, continental and basketweave stitches, and use of different fibers.

104. Finishing

Learn professional finishing techniques such as knitting shoulders together, sewing side seams, and picking up stitches.

105. Continental Knitting

Technique class to teach this European style of knitting. Learn how to hold the yarn in your left hand for a fast and efficent way to knit.

106. Beginner Knit-a-long.

FREE-No sign up required! We'll Feature new knit-a-long (KAL) projects with each schedule. The KALs are to take the place our next-step beginning skills classes.

107. Ruhama's Afghan

Some things never go out of style, like this classic Aran afghan from a 1978 book by the original owner, Ruhama Weiner. Made in strips, you’ll begin one strip in each class. But don’t worry – you don’t have to finish each strip by the next class. The patterns are classic Aran designs including cable, which you’ll learn to read from charts.
